As the Season wanes...

The end of the Summer is nigh- the weather has already turned mild...it almost seems as if August got skipped. School is starting already in some places, and begins here in 2 weeks. Back-to-School Sales are already a week old.. Halloween Candy and Decorations for sale in the local dollar stores..!
It's the beginning of August- it's still Summertime...there should be swimsuits and BBQ gear, citronella candles and flip-flops; not sweaters, warm socks and Pumpkin Cappuccino! Time is just flying- whizzing past at 3 million mph.
As the season wanes- our Gardens are still producing. The wild Spring we had delayed our planting, and this weird Summer seems to be forcing an early Harvest. The weather has been quite the conundrum this year. Our hope is that this is just a 'fluke season' and that next year will be better.
As the colder months approach, we turn our attentions to the many
Projects we have lined up:
Grape Arbor Pruning & Maintenance
Felling an old Cedar Tree (it's destroying our Apples!)
Cold Frame Installation
Apple/Pear Orchard Pruning & Maintenance
Compost & Cover main 'in-ground' Veg Beds
Sinking support posts for 'climbers' (beans, peas, etc)
Kiwi Bush Pruning & Maintenance
a few 'Handyman Special' Projects around the House
Many 'To-Do's' on our list- this is just a glimpse of the main Projects lined up. There's also Painting to do, a Roofing issue to attend to, Feral Cats to relocate, a Workshop to clean, stock and organize and so much more... Livin' a Simple Life is busy, busy, busy!
Stay tuned for more of our neverending Saga.. Harvestime is here- the canning jars, spice bottles and pantries are ready to be filled- and, Family and friends are eagerly awaiting the bounty...
